Dr. John L. Dutton
Dr. John L. Dutton is an accomplished general surgeon with specialized expertise in robotic gastrointestinal surgery and is the newest attending physician to join the staff at Princeton Medical Center.
He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, graduating with distinction in Medical Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He completed his undergraduate studies at Franklin & Marshall College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Foundations of Behavior.
Dr. Dutton completed his General Surgery Residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he developed advanced proficiency in both traditional and minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic-assisted procedures utilizing the da Vinci Surgical System. His clinical focus centers on complex gastrointestinal surgery, with an emphasis on precision, innovation, and evidence-based care.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to global health and surgical access, Dr. Dutton completed a Global Surgery Fellowship with Operation Smile, contributing to initiatives aimed at expanding safe surgical care in underserved regions worldwide.
Dr. Dutton has authored and presented numerous publications on innovative surgical techniques, system-based improvement, and physician leadership. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and has received multiple awards recognizing excellence in teaching and leadership.
Dr. Dutton resides in the Greater Princeton area with his wife and two daughters.
