Insurance Information

We currently participate with many insurance companies. These include the traditional fee-for-service programs as well as many health maintenance organizations. Many of these contracts are arranged through the physician hospital organization at The University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. Many of the insurance organizations require appropriate referral documents from the primary care physician. You must come to the office with these referrals; please do not rely on your primary care physician’s office to fax documents to us. In general, we cannot render any services without the appropriate referral. This referral is your responsibility. All insurance claims will be submitted by our office unless you request otherwise.

If you are scheduled for surgery, please check with your insurance plan for any special requirements regarding second opinion or pre-certification of surgical procedures and/or policy exclusions. We will bill your insurance company for your surgical charges. In many cases, insurance payments are reimbursed directly to our office, however, if the insurance company reimburses you directly please forward the payment with a copy of the “Explanation of Benefits” to our office. We will bill secondary insurance payers on behalf of the patient upon receipt of the “Explanation of Benefits” and primary insurance payment.

Princeton Surgical Associates is contractually obligated to collect all charges (such as co-payments, deductibles, etc.) as determined by the patient’s insurance. What do I do if my insurance is not on this list?

We at Princeton Surgical Associates are always happy to see new patients “out of network.” While we may not participate with your insurance, that does not mean that we can’t help you. Many “PPO” insurance plans have “out of network” benefit provisions. Click here to contact us with any insurance question: we’d be happy to work with you and discuss your needs.
