*Why Do I need a Board Certified Surgeon?

Elliot Sambol, M.D.

Dr. Elliot Sambol was born and raised in Lakewood, New Jersey. After graduating as

Sambol valedictorian of his high school class, Dr. Sambol went on to the University of Pennsylvania where he majored in neurobiology and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude. Dr. Sambol returned to NJ in 1996 where he attended UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. While at UMDNJ, he was elected into to the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society.

After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Sambol went on to NYU Medical Center in New York City for a 5 year General Surgery residency. Dr. Sambol spent two additional years performing basic science surgical research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Upon completion of his general surgical training, Dr. Sambol did a 2 year fellowship in vascular/endovascular surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Cornell/Columbia. Dr. Sambol is currently double board certified in both Vascular Surgery and General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Sambol’s main interests and expertise are in the practice of endovascular surgery and open vascular surgery. His training in New York has provided him with cutting edge techniques to perform minimally invasive surgery for even the most complex vascular conditions.  Specifically, Dr. Sambol performs endovascular procedures for the treatment of arterial disease including PAD,aneurysms, and carotid stenosis.  He also specializes in the treatment of venous disorders including deep venous thrombosis (DVT), varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency, spider veins and leg swelling.  Dr. Sambol uses radiofrequency technology to treat varicose veins using the Venefit procedure (formally known as VNUS Closure).  He joined Princeton Surgical Associates in 2009.
